Middle Office & Bunker Operations Specialist

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a proactive Middle Office and Bunker Operations Specialist to join our bunker department in Lugano. The ideal candidate will have a background in maritime industry, shipping practice and oil industry.
The Middle Office and Bunker Operations Specialist supports maritime trading and operational activities with a specific focus on bunker operations and hedging strategies. The role acts as a key link between front office, operations, finance, and external counterparties, ensuring accurate execution, reconciliation, and control of financial & physical hedging.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing bunker trading and procurement activities from post-fixture to settlement
- Support the implementation and monitoring of bunker hedging strategies in coordination with the trading desk
- Conduct and support risk control activities, including exposure monitoring and reporting
- Review and validate bunker contracts, confirmations, and delivery documents
- Track and reconcile financial hedging instruments (e.g. swaps, futures, options) linked to bunker exposure
- Monitor price exposure and hedge effectiveness, producing periodic risk and P&L reports
- Cooperate with operations and finance departments to ensure integrity with internal procedures and maritime regulations
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with internal procedures and systems and market regulations
Requirements:
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Maritime Studies, or a related field
- 2–3 years of experience in middle office, operations, or bunker-related roles within the maritime/shipping sector
- Good understanding of bunker markets, price formation, and basic hedging instruments
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, structured, and risk-aware mindset
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure
- Strong communication and coordination skills

CHARTERING MANAGER - PACIFIC REGION

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced CHARTERING MANAGER to develop Nova Marine Carriers presence in Pacific region for project / breakbulk / bulk parcels. Who can develop relationships with the relevant stakeholders support the business development, to establish winning customer relationships and position Nova Marine Carriers as the partner of choice.
Experience in chartering, operations, business development.
Key Responsibilities
• Grow the cargo book and identify new opportunities and customers in China / Nort Pacific region.
• Build strong relationship with new and existing costumers in China/North Pacific to generate cargo and COA opportunities
• Responsibilities include evaluation of spot and contractual opportunities and management execution.
• Work closely with Operations, Port captains and contractors to ensure the planning and execution of shipments is carried out seamlessly to ensure integrity of cargo is maintained and customers are satisfied with Nova Marine Carriers service delivery.
• Communicate with the regional and head office teams in the daily and weekly meetings.
Requirements:
• Minimum 8-15 years of relevant experience in a similar position within the shipping segment
• Good knowledge of chartering practices
• Fluent in Chinese + English (both written and spoken); additional languages are a plus
• Highly analytical perspective, strong computer literacy, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment;
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach.
